Christmas Recap

Hello everyone! How has your Holidays been? My four days off of work were definitely very relaxing and I managed to re-gain a lot of lost energy. Since I’ve been a bit MIA during the Christmas times, due to work and being with family and friends, I thought I’d bring you a little Christmas recap to let you guys tag along to what I’ve been up to the days up to and after Christmas, so let’s go! PS: There’s going to be a lot of iPhone photos, so bare with me on the quality this time!

Remember I talked about the Christmas market? I finally got to visit it together with my friend, Ida. We decided to have a full on wintery and Christmassy day and started it all off with some fun at the skating rink.

Up next, lots of Christmas goodies. I went for churros with cinnamon and sugar and Ida went for a Belgian waffle with chocolate. For drinks I got a cup of hot Chocolate(with cream!!) and Ida had Gløgg(Norwegian version of Mulled Wine).

Then of course, even though we’re both super scared of heights, we had to go on the Ferris wheel. Worst and best decision of the day. It was all idyllic and fun until we reached the top and the wheel stopped cause they were letting mote people on. We seriously froze in fear, it was so high up!!! The view was so and so as it was a very foggy day, but we could indeed see how high up we were!

The view from the Ferris wheel with the skating rink underneath us and the market and shopping street to the left! The fancy building straight ahead is the Parliament!

Spent the morning decorating the tree and the entire house for Christmas, as is the Christmas tradition in most Norwegian homes. I enjoyed this s much, really brings me back to being a kid and being all excited for Christmas. I actually think I enjoy it even more now really, haha!

This is my self-made Christmas sweater, I’m cool like that.

December 24th

The big day. In Norway we celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve, meaning presents, food and dressing up all on this special evening.

My gorgeous glittery dress that I wore. Love the open back!

The evening was amazing and I just want to relive it over and over again. I didn’t take any photos of the meal that day, but I’ll show you a reconstruction(as I of course had leftovers the next day), to let you in on what we eat on Christmas Eve in Norway!

Dinner is either pork, lamb or fish mostly, depending on where in the country you’re from. In my family we eat pork. The main dish being ribs and then next to it, sausages and meatballs(they’re not really meatballs, just couldn’t find a better English word), potatoes, of course, and then two types of sauerkraut and mustard.

For dessert: rice cream/risalamande/riskrem with raspberry sauce! This is literally the best thing in the world. Get at it if you ever have the chance.

December 25th

The next day was spent in my PJ’s and slippers digging into all the leftovers and wathcing Vampire Diaries. It was not a productive day AT ALL. Exactly how Christmas Day is supposed to be!

The last days have been more back to normal. And back to work, ugh. Been really spoilt with my dad making us so many amazing dishes for dinner, including his soon to be world famous pizza. Just look at this piece of art:

What I got for Christmas 2016

Hello everyone! Hope you are all still having an amazing Christmas season, I know I am. Christmas Eve has passed and I thought I’d let you in on the gifts that I received this year. Hopefully, you are as nosy as me and find this post interesting, haha.

img_3608

First of all, like every year, I got spoilt with so many sweets. The banana candy to the right is sooo good(and extremely sweet, haha) and then of course a marzipan pig and some tiny chocolate covered marzipan pigs. Marzipan is a very popular Christmas treat in Norway.

Then, my sister got me this beautiful phone case from ‘Richmond&Finch’. It’s so posh, but I just love itttt. I haven’t had a case on my phone since I got it because I’m so picky and think the phone looks prettier without, but it’s time to face the fact that it wont last long without a solid case.

My sister also got me loads of these weird hairbands/scrunchies that I think are supposed to be better for yout hair than normail hairbands. They are really comfortable to keep your hair up with and doesn’t feel like they damage it or rip a lot of hairs out. The mittens are from my parents and are Norwegian Selbu mittens with the special Selburose knit pattern. Lovelovelove them and the Christmassy color. Will definitely be wearing these a lot, so please let us have some snow soon!

From my uncle I got this book, which I actually hadn’t heard about, but I think it’s a classic and I am excited to read it! Have any of you guys read it?

From my aunt ant my other uncle and their kids I got these super fluffy baby blue slippers! My sister got the same ones in white and when she opened her present I was like “aww, I want some too” and then I opened mine and they had gotten some for me as well! I have been wearing these all day today, they are so comfy and insanely warm. Definitely the perfect winter gift!

I also got some money for Christmas this year as I, as you may know, am saving up for a bunad. So now I’m a little closer to that goal too! I am so thankful for all my presents, and also so thankful for last night spend with my closest family. It was the perfect Christmas Eve.

Hope everyone who’s celebrated today on Christmas Day have had as lovely a celebration as I had yesterday. My day has been spend in the attire seen above: Penguin PJ’s and fluffy slippers while watching ‘Vampire Diaries’ and digging into a bunch of Christmas leftovers!

Also, today I woke up to 300 followers on my blog! That’s insane and such an amazing Christmas Day Surprise! Thank you all so much for the support and lovely comments both here and on my other social media, you make my day! ♥

Christmas Hugs,

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Yes, I know, where have I been? I just realized it’s 10 days since I last posted anything on this blog and I’m so sorry. The last weeks have been very hectic. I had two exams which happened to be on the day after each other and I was panicking trying to get through everything I had to read. I think they went well, though. Other than that, I’ve just had a lot on my mind and I must admit I’ve been feeling a little bit down. But now, with only one exam left to go it’s time to put on the blogging shoes again and tell you about my favorite day that I had last week.

On Saturday, after my two exams were well over with, me and one of my best friends decided we had to treat ourselves to a little celebration, including dinner and a movie. For dinner we went to a thai restaurant in Oslo called YaYa’s. And if you’re ever in Oslo and in the mood for some delicious thai, this is the place! The food is amazing and the restaurant is so creatively decorated with lots of colors and fun furniture. We both had the Chicken Cashew wook, Yayasssssss. For movie we had both been longing to see “Fantastic Beasts and where to find them” in the cinemas. I know there’s split opinions as to the movie, but I absolutely loved it. I loved being back in the wizarding world and the entire movie felt so magical with such a well thought out balance between comedy, romance and darkness. 10/10 recommend from me.

Saturday was also the day they put up all the Christmas lights and trees in the city and in celebration of that they held the most amazing fireworks show! We didn’t know about it beforehand and was taken by surprise when suddenly the entire sky was filled with lights and colors – so beautiful!

On the last picture you can see the gates to the “Christmas street/market” which I am dying to visit, and when I do, there will be a post. Promise!

I had to use pictures of my phone as I didn’t bring my camera into the city, so I hope you can bear with the quality. Other than that I want to announce that I am jumping onto the Blogmas-train, and I really hope I’ll be able to put up a Christmassy post every day through December! I’ve got a lot of ideas – so keep your eyes peeled, lovelies!
