Christmas Recap

Hello everyone! How has your Holidays been? My four days off of work were definitely very relaxing and I managed to re-gain a lot of lost energy. Since I’ve been a bit MIA during the Christmas times, due to work and being with family and friends, I thought I’d bring you a little Christmas recap to let you guys tag along to what I’ve been up to the days up to and after Christmas, so let’s go! PS: There’s going to be a lot of iPhone photos, so bare with me on the quality this time!

Remember I talked about the Christmas market? I finally got to visit it together with my friend, Ida. We decided to have a full on wintery and Christmassy day and started it all off with some fun at the skating rink.

Up next, lots of Christmas goodies. I went for churros with cinnamon and sugar and Ida went for a Belgian waffle with chocolate. For drinks I got a cup of hot Chocolate(with cream!!) and Ida had Gløgg(Norwegian version of Mulled Wine).

Then of course, even though we’re both super scared of heights, we had to go on the Ferris wheel. Worst and best decision of the day. It was all idyllic and fun until we reached the top and the wheel stopped cause they were letting mote people on. We seriously froze in fear, it was so high up!!! The view was so and so as it was a very foggy day, but we could indeed see how high up we were!

The view from the Ferris wheel with the skating rink underneath us and the market and shopping street to the left! The fancy building straight ahead is the Parliament!

Spent the morning decorating the tree and the entire house for Christmas, as is the Christmas tradition in most Norwegian homes. I enjoyed this s much, really brings me back to being a kid and being all excited for Christmas. I actually think I enjoy it even more now really, haha!

This is my self-made Christmas sweater, I’m cool like that.

December 24th

The big day. In Norway we celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve, meaning presents, food and dressing up all on this special evening.

My gorgeous glittery dress that I wore. Love the open back!

The evening was amazing and I just want to relive it over and over again. I didn’t take any photos of the meal that day, but I’ll show you a reconstruction(as I of course had leftovers the next day), to let you in on what we eat on Christmas Eve in Norway!

Dinner is either pork, lamb or fish mostly, depending on where in the country you’re from. In my family we eat pork. The main dish being ribs and then next to it, sausages and meatballs(they’re not really meatballs, just couldn’t find a better English word), potatoes, of course, and then two types of sauerkraut and mustard.

For dessert: rice cream/risalamande/riskrem with raspberry sauce! This is literally the best thing in the world. Get at it if you ever have the chance.

December 25th

The next day was spent in my PJ’s and slippers digging into all the leftovers and wathcing Vampire Diaries. It was not a productive day AT ALL. Exactly how Christmas Day is supposed to be!

The last days have been more back to normal. And back to work, ugh. Been really spoilt with my dad making us so many amazing dishes for dinner, including his soon to be world famous pizza. Just look at this piece of art:
