Christmas Wishlist 2017

It’s that time of the year again, and this year I’m just so ready for Christmas to come. The snow has already been here for a while, making the perfect Christmas landscape outside our house, and with only one week left of school before the Holidays I feel like a Christmassy post is at it’s place.

This year my Christmas wishlist consists mainly of makeup items, just because I’m very much about that right now. I want to learn how to create new looks, especially for the Holiday season, and for that, I need the right equipment. I’m just going to jump into the list, with all the makeup items first and then show you the rest.

Morphe 35F

First of all, I really want a proper eyeshadow palette, as all I have right now are smaller ones with little variety in shades. This is the Morphe 35 F, Fall Into Frost Palette, and I can definitely see this as the perfect Fall/Winter eyeshadow palette.

Real Techniques

Brushes, brushes, brushes! I definitely should get better at experimenting with different kinds of brushes instead of using the same brush for everything, hehe. Therefore, some of these Real Techniques brushes have found their way to my wishlist this year!

Glitter Dust

What is a Christmas make up look without glitter? The Body Shop has launched some awesome glitter eyeshadows in pink and gold and the gold one just screams New Years Eve for me.

Drops of Glow

And lastly on the makeup part are these illuminating Drops of Glow from The Body Shop. I saw them used in a YouTube video not too long ago, and wow, they make your skin glow up and look so natural. I really want to try these.

Aquarius 2

Aquarius 1

I’ve always loved these kind of necklaces which have your zodiac sign on them, and this one from Pilgrim is just so pretty.

Adidas Superstar

Last, but not least, on my Christmas wishlist are the Adidas Superstars in white with the classic black stripes. After my sneakers broke this Summer I’ve been looking for some new ones for next Summer and I’ve come to conclusion that I really want these. After constantly borrowing my mom’s Superstar’s it’s probably time to get my own pair.

That was my wishlist for 2017, what’s on yours? And how are you guys? I’m hoping to get more into my blogging again as soon as I get off school for the season, as things are very busy right now! (Life as a vet student, rip).

Hope you are all having a wonderful Christmas time so far!

1 Year of Blogging and the Journey so far

It seems like only yesterday that I wrote my first ever post on this little site that I call my blog. I remember being so excited about expressing myself in words to what was then an unknown audience. Little did I know that all these anonymous numbers would soon get familiar faces and familiar names and become a whole community of blogging friends!

Now, one year later, my blog has grown to 421 followers! That’s insane. When I sat alone in my living room and typed up my first post I didn’t even think I would get any comments, and definitely not this number of followers! The blogger life has been a roller coaster. Some days I am full of ideas and some days I can’t even get time to sit down and interact on my blog’s social media. I recently started studying veterinary medicine, which is something I have been working so hard for. I am so happy and content with my study so far, but it is time consuming and that has affected my blog. I am so sorry for not posting as frequently as I used to, but I promise you, I will not give up on this blog!

Thank you so much to everyone who has commented, followed and interacted with me, you make my day everyday! And thank you especially to those who stand by my blog even when I am a bit absent from it myself.

You guys are the best!

And as promised, there will be a lot of outfit and travel posts from my vacation in Nice and Monaco, very very soon!

Personal Style

As much as we all love to dress up from head to toe – high heels, curly hair, lashes,  a full face of makeup – there is something so special about jumping into the clothes that are just YOU. I’ve been thinking a lot about personal style and allthough I am a person that loves to wear all different kinds of styles there’s always a style that just represents the plain and natural me.

In this post I’ve tried to put together an outfit that represents my personal style. This is me, all chill, no make up, and my hair tied in a messy bun, because why not? The photos are shot on the most beautiful location that I know, near the sea at our cabin in the south of Norway. I’ve been spending my summers at this place since the age of one and there’s something so special about coming back every year to this place that no matter what, will always stay the same.

Outfit Details:
Body – BikBok | Jeans – Levi’s | Watch – Daniel Wellington | Shoes – Converse(slightly bitten off at the heel thanks to my very kind dog)

What do you feel represents your personal style? And do you have a place that always feels like home to you?

Tomorrow I travel to Nice, France, and I am super excited! Make sure to follow all my social media linked below if you want to keep up with my trip and get some outfit sneak peeks!

Vi er perfekt, men verden er ikke det

“We’re perfect, but the world isn’t..”

For those of you who’ve been watching, isn’t it so sad that SKAM is over? How did you find the ending? I am seriously so impressed by everything this series has achieved. Julie Andem, you rock! If you don’t know what SKAM is, it is a Norwegian TV-series based on the lives of a group of teenagers in Oslo. The series debate friendship, prejudice, religion, homosexuality, rape and just the general struggles that I think we all can relate to growing up, seen through the eyes of young people today. Every episode gives you something special and important and I truly recommend this series for everyone. It’s different, but so good.

The headline of today’s post is a song title from one of the songs used in the series, so I thought I’d just leave the song here, for you to listen to and to let it set the right mood for the rest of the post.

Where: Sørenga, Oslo

An area by the seaside of Oslo, with lots of bathing space, restaurants and city life. We chose to retreat to the calmer side in the shadows of the dock because the weather was especially hot this day.

I’ve recently been growing more and more fond of my own city. Maybe it’s the summer weather? Anyway I’ve been exploring more places that I don’t usually hang out at. I’ve also been walking around by myself, exploring and enjoying the peaceful seaside of the city. Oslo has been amazing these last few days, I really hope the weather stays like this all summer. A girl can dream, right?

OOTD: Top – BikBok | Bikini – BikBok | Jeans – BikBok | Watch – Daniel Wellington | Shoes – Converse | Sunglasses – Pretty Little Thing

Do I shop my outfits any other places than BikBok? Apparently not, haha.

How has your summer been so far? Is it hot in your country?

Stockholm Diaries

Have you ever fallen in love with a city?
Personally I have several cities that are close to my heart in their own special way, and Stockholm is definitely on that list. In March me and my girlfriends/super besties had a weekend getaway to this amazing city, where we got the taste of all the memorable experiences Stockholm had to offer!

An important aspect of the trip was to get a lot of shopping done, and I mean, a LOT. One thing we all were determined on was finding the perfect thrift shop, and so we did, right at the top of the main street, Drottninggatan. Beyond Retro was the thrift shop of our dreams.

It’s safe to say that none of us left this shop empty handed. If you want to read more about the shop and it’s consept, you can check out their website here. Other than that you can also find all the big brands and stores in Stockholm, and we took the opportunity to visit all the shops that we don’t have in Norway, for example River Island and Sephora(my Sephora haul is up here). We were really disappointed when we found out that Urban Outfitters was temporarily removed, as we were all super hyped to shop there.

Food and drinks
Aren’t food and drinks the highlight of any vacation? First of all our hotel, Generator Stockholm had an amazing breakfast menu that we were super excited about! Lots of options that were cooked at the hotel kitchen. How yummy does this breakfast look?

For lunch on Saturday we felt like a sweet alternative and went to Café Muren in Gamla Stan/the Old Town and ordered belgian waffles with Nutella and cream, apple pie, hot chocolates plus the Swedish cake Kladdkaka. Meal of our dreams.

We also ate dinner at one of the Italian reastaurants in Gamla Stan on Friday. Amazing food and a really lovely waiter who was super excited to show us his Norwegian skills as he had actually lived in Oslo! Gamla Stan is a really lovely destination if you’re looking for a place to have your dinner in Stockholm. The small medieval streets and houses are filled with restaurant options!

Saturday, we felt like Asian for dinner and found the perfect place not far from our hotel in the city center. Szechuan beef and chicken, sushi and a lovely vegetarian Pad Thai for our main meal and then for starters edamame(soy beans) in sea salt and yummy vegetarian dumplings! A dinner success! After dinner on Saturday we decided to explore Stockholms nightlife. We started with pre-drinks and girly chats at the hotel room before we made our way to Stureplan, the party capital of Stockholm, haha. The night was seriously so much fun. There is something special about being out with your absolute best friends!

Sunday, we decided to go for Italian again, just because why not! We went to this Italian restaurant called “Flames”, where I’m not kidding when I say the food was amazing! First they gave us free bread with olive paste for starters, ka-ching! Then for the main course we had different kinds of pasta and Elise had the most amazing Chevre and Honey pizza, it was so divine that the rest of us stole a good piece of it, haha.

We also paid a visit to the Modern museum/Moderna museet, which is a museum for modern and contemporary art located on the island of Skeppsholmen, which is very central. There were all sorts of exhibitions you could see, but we chose to walk through “The Collection”, including key works by artists like Picasso, Matisse, Warhol, Dali etc. This exhibition was free as well and there was so much to see!

After being at the museum we decided to have a little photoshoot with beautiful city backdrops:

Helene looking stylish as always, she should get a blog, right??

Gorgeous Ida with the beautiful city behind her!

One of the best trips I have ever been on! You don’t need to travel far to enjoy yourself! Have you ever been to Stockholm?

OOTD: Sunny Days in Oslo

I’m back! It’s been forever and I’m so so sorry. There’s really no excuse, but the fact that I think I’ve just been uninspired and tired. But summer is finally here and I will use it to my advantage to get up some lovely posts for you guys!

On Friday, me and my sister had a lovely dinner at Olivia Tjuvholmen, which is an Italian restaurant in Oslo. I have very good experiences with the food there and it’s not very expensive, which makes it an easy option on a sunny day!

My outfit:
Jacket – Gina Tricot | Top – Brandy Melville | Skirt – H&M | Shoes – Converse

The weather has been amazing the last few days! Only sunny days and it’s been extremely hot. Too bad I’m stuck inside studying for my exams all day. But, in a week it will all be over and I’ll finally have a well deserved summer vacay!

How’s your week been? Have you had sunny weather as well?

Huge Sephora Haul + First Impressions

I’m back! Back to blogging, but also back from an amazing weekend trip to Stockholm, which I will tell you more about in a separate blog post, so stay put for that. This post on the other side, is going to revolve around something I rarely write about, makeup.

See, in Stockholm they have Sephora, which we don’t have in Oslo, sigh.. I rarely spend any money on makeup at all, especially since I tend to just stick to the items I’ve always owned, so it’s safe to say that I branched out a little bit this time. Therefore, for todays post, I thought I’d give you an insight in what I bought, plus giving you my first impressions of the products showing a makeup look using only the items shown below. Behold the glorious new additions to my makeup bag:

From left: The Kat von D Tattoo Liner, Smashbox Photo Finish Pore Minimizing PrimerSleek Highlighting PalletteToo Faced Born This Way FoundationToo Faced Better Than Sex MascaraUrban Decay Naked Skin ConcealerToo Faced Melted Matte LipstickToo Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer (tester)Too Faced Bulletproof Brows (not sure how I managed to not get this one in the shot, life.. Also, why do makeup products have such long names??)

Here is my finished look, a very simple look, yet perfect for a night out as well. If you’d like to hear my impressions of the products as well as see more photos then just keep reading!

The Base:

These are the products I’ve used for my base. First out, the Smashbox primer. I’ve previously been using their normal Photo Finish primer, but when I saw they had a ‘pore minimizing’ one, I really felt like it was worth giving a shot. And I’m not lying when I say it actually minimizes your pores, it’s insane! A trick that my friend told me is to tap the primer on to your face instead of rubbing it, to give a smoother effect.

As foundation and concealer goes, these two are the only repurchases in my haul. I’ve already been using these for months and I love them. To see a review I’ve already done on the Too Faced Born This Way, click here. As the UD Naked concealer goes, it’s the best one I’ve tried so far. It hides blemishes like a pro and my only problem is that it tends to crease a bit under my eyes.

As my previous brow set was singing on its last verse(weird Norwegian saying yo) I was on a mission through Sephora to find the perfect brow kit, and I once again landed on a Too Faced product. It is described as a powder, gel, pencil and setting wax all-in-one. I’d say it’s probably quite similar to the Anastasia dipbrow pomade, except I’ve never really found a shade that suits me from the Anastasia brow range. This on the other hand is in the shade ‘universal taupe’, which fits my red-ish/blonde-ish hair very well.

Bronze and Highlight:

I’ve never really owned a highlighting pallette, so for my first one I landed on Sleeks Cleopatra’s Kiss Pallette, which consist of the shades Sphinx, Delta, Dynasty and Goddess. Some of these are probably ment for someone a bit less(read: a lot) pale than me, but I just absolutely fell in love with the bottom right shade, Goddess. I am really impressed by this pallette. Sleek manages to combine quality with reasonable prizes, which I love. It’s a very pigmented highlighter, which shows you don’t always have to go to the expensive brands to find quality. The tiny Chocolate Soleil bronzer was given to me as a gift for buying so many Too Faced products, haha. But this is also a really good product. And it smells like chocolate, eeek.

Lips and Eyes:

What caught my eye in Sephora is they sell a lot of tester-sized products, as this combined mascara/eyeliner set from Too Faced/Kat von D. I found this really nice, especially for products as Too Faced that are fairly expensive. I really wanted to try both the mascara and the liner, but wasn’t sure I’d like them and definitely didn’t feel like using up to $20-30 on each of them.

I’ve heard so much about the Better Than Sex Mascara and was very thrilled to try it, but to be honest – for such a pricy mascara, it’s not that good. I’ve tried several drugstore mascara’s that give just as good volume, if not even more. So yeah, it’s a good mascara, but in my opinion, definitely not the best. The Kat von D Tattoo Liner on the other hand! Such a good eyeliner. I think what I loved most about it is how easy it was to apply. I would definitely recommend this even for those who feel they’re struggling to draw the perfect wing. It is just a very steady liner that let’s you create straight lines without ‘spilling’ product everywhere.

For lips, I’m still totally in love with the liquid matte trend. So far I’ve been through both the Kylie lip kits and the NYX’s liquid suedes and I therefore thought it was time to try Too Faced’s take on a liquid matte lip. I must say, I love it. It might even be my favorite so far. Mine is in the shade ‘Child Star’, which is a very light nude. It comes on really soft and stays on the entire evening without feeling dry. Any interest in me doing a post where I compare all my liquid matte lipsticks(Kylie, NYX, Too Faced etc.)? I might do one anyways, haha.

Phew, have I been rambling far too much about makeup now? I just thought I’d show you the very last few products in my haul as well.

I branched out a little bit and bought myself a beautyblender, as I’m just really curious to the quality compared to the H&M sponges that I currently use. I also bought this really cute Avocado Sheet Mask, which I can’t wait to try. These other masks are masks that I got as testers in my Sephora bag, including a charcoal mask, which I am very intrigued about.

I thought I’d do a separate post on skincare and face masks once I’ve tried them all!

In conclusion, I am beyond happy about all my new products. It’s not often that one is almost 100% happy with such a huge makeup purchase, but I must say, except from the Too Faced mascara, that all the products lived up to my expectations. And no, I’m not sponsored by Too Faced( hmu though ), I just really and honestly love their products and I’m so gutted that I can’t get them here in Norway.

I hope you enjoyed this post, and even though I hate close ups of my face, here are some of those as well. What don’t I do for quality content? Keep your eyes peeled for more Stockholm posts, as they will be up very soon!

Sunset Walks

Allthough my outfits tend to be very monochrome, I find contrasts so beautiful. A white snowy road meets the red sky. White shirt and black jeans. The cold weather meets the warmth of the sun. Lately we’ve been blessed with more sun, it’s getting lighter outside and I can feel myself getting lighter inside as well. We are slowly saying goodbye to the cold and dark winter and welcoming spring(well, not yet though, this is Norway after all).

In this post I thought I would show you an outfit that I feel reflect very well on my personal style. If I could I would probably have worn this every day, but let’s pretend I didn’t say that. Wouldn’t want anyone to think I’m boring.

This outfit is put together by both old and new items. A white shirt that I’ve had since forever, a black belt that I found hidden in the back of my closet and cannot even remember how I got, some fairly new black jeans and my all time favorite and beloved grey woollen coat.

Outfit Details: Sunglasses – H&M | Coat – URBAN | Shirt – Cubus | Jeans – Carlings | Boots – Pavement

I’m also wearing some really cool socks from Monki, with a dog riding a bicycle on them. Just thought you should know.

These photos made me realize I want to shoot more in the early sunsets. The lighting is so magical. A big thank you to my little sister who gets dragged out in whatever weather and forced on these walks with me to take photos, you da best.

Hope you are all doing amazing. I have had my winter holidays this week and I must say, I could really get used to not having to go to school everyday. The week has so far consisted of 80% watching Bates Motel on Netflix and 20% homework. Do not follow my example, kids. Now that I’ve watched all the seasons that are out on Netflix so far I might be able to be a bit productive before the weekend comes. Wish me luck.

How has your week been so far?

My Getaway Weekend

Sometimes we just need to hit the pause button on life and enjoy ourselves a little getaway from reality. This weekend I visited one of my best friends who lives and studies in beautiful Trondheim, the city of the wooden houses.

You’ll find Trondheim located almost in the middle of Norway, around 500 km north of the capital, Oslo, where I live. Being one of the most popular student cities in Norway, Trondheim is always full of life and adventure. To capture everything we did on this amazing weekend would be nearly impossible, but I would like to take you along on the walk we had on Saturday, in beautiful and sunny, though very windy weather.

Walking along Nidelva, which runs through Trondheim, you’ll see small and big wooden houses in various colors all along the riverside.

Nidarosdomen(The Nidaros Cathedral), place of the burial of St. Olav, and a unique Middle Age building. The cathedral is so massive you can’t even capture the entire building in one shot.

On the last two photos, Solsiden(the sunny side), best known for its long strip of restaurants and bars, filled with lights and life during Trondheims nightlife.

Such a wonderful and amazing city that I cannot recommend enough. Already looking forward to my next visit!
