OOTD: Sunny Days in Oslo

I’m back! It’s been forever and I’m so so sorry. There’s really no excuse, but the fact that I think I’ve just been uninspired and tired. But summer is finally here and I will use it to my advantage to get up some lovely posts for you guys!

On Friday, me and my sister had a lovely dinner at Olivia Tjuvholmen, which is an Italian restaurant in Oslo. I have very good experiences with the food there and it’s not very expensive, which makes it an easy option on a sunny day!

My outfit:
Jacket – Gina Tricot | Top – Brandy Melville | Skirt – H&M | Shoes – Converse

The weather has been amazing the last few days! Only sunny days and it’s been extremely hot. Too bad I’m stuck inside studying for my exams all day. But, in a week it will all be over and I’ll finally have a well deserved summer vacay!

How’s your week been? Have you had sunny weather as well?

Huge Sephora Haul + First Impressions

I’m back! Back to blogging, but also back from an amazing weekend trip to Stockholm, which I will tell you more about in a separate blog post, so stay put for that. This post on the other side, is going to revolve around something I rarely write about, makeup.

See, in Stockholm they have Sephora, which we don’t have in Oslo, sigh.. I rarely spend any money on makeup at all, especially since I tend to just stick to the items I’ve always owned, so it’s safe to say that I branched out a little bit this time. Therefore, for todays post, I thought I’d give you an insight in what I bought, plus giving you my first impressions of the products showing a makeup look using only the items shown below. Behold the glorious new additions to my makeup bag:

From left: The Kat von D Tattoo Liner, Smashbox Photo Finish Pore Minimizing PrimerSleek Highlighting PalletteToo Faced Born This Way FoundationToo Faced Better Than Sex MascaraUrban Decay Naked Skin ConcealerToo Faced Melted Matte LipstickToo Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer (tester)Too Faced Bulletproof Brows (not sure how I managed to not get this one in the shot, life.. Also, why do makeup products have such long names??)

Here is my finished look, a very simple look, yet perfect for a night out as well. If you’d like to hear my impressions of the products as well as see more photos then just keep reading!

The Base:

These are the products I’ve used for my base. First out, the Smashbox primer. I’ve previously been using their normal Photo Finish primer, but when I saw they had a ‘pore minimizing’ one, I really felt like it was worth giving a shot. And I’m not lying when I say it actually minimizes your pores, it’s insane! A trick that my friend told me is to tap the primer on to your face instead of rubbing it, to give a smoother effect.

As foundation and concealer goes, these two are the only repurchases in my haul. I’ve already been using these for months and I love them. To see a review I’ve already done on the Too Faced Born This Way, click here. As the UD Naked concealer goes, it’s the best one I’ve tried so far. It hides blemishes like a pro and my only problem is that it tends to crease a bit under my eyes.

As my previous brow set was singing on its last verse(weird Norwegian saying yo) I was on a mission through Sephora to find the perfect brow kit, and I once again landed on a Too Faced product. It is described as a powder, gel, pencil and setting wax all-in-one. I’d say it’s probably quite similar to the Anastasia dipbrow pomade, except I’ve never really found a shade that suits me from the Anastasia brow range. This on the other hand is in the shade ‘universal taupe’, which fits my red-ish/blonde-ish hair very well.

Bronze and Highlight:

I’ve never really owned a highlighting pallette, so for my first one I landed on Sleeks Cleopatra’s Kiss Pallette, which consist of the shades Sphinx, Delta, Dynasty and Goddess. Some of these are probably ment for someone a bit less(read: a lot) pale than me, but I just absolutely fell in love with the bottom right shade, Goddess. I am really impressed by this pallette. Sleek manages to combine quality with reasonable prizes, which I love. It’s a very pigmented highlighter, which shows you don’t always have to go to the expensive brands to find quality. The tiny Chocolate Soleil bronzer was given to me as a gift for buying so many Too Faced products, haha. But this is also a really good product. And it smells like chocolate, eeek.

Lips and Eyes:

What caught my eye in Sephora is they sell a lot of tester-sized products, as this combined mascara/eyeliner set from Too Faced/Kat von D. I found this really nice, especially for products as Too Faced that are fairly expensive. I really wanted to try both the mascara and the liner, but wasn’t sure I’d like them and definitely didn’t feel like using up to $20-30 on each of them.

I’ve heard so much about the Better Than Sex Mascara and was very thrilled to try it, but to be honest – for such a pricy mascara, it’s not that good. I’ve tried several drugstore mascara’s that give just as good volume, if not even more. So yeah, it’s a good mascara, but in my opinion, definitely not the best. The Kat von D Tattoo Liner on the other hand! Such a good eyeliner. I think what I loved most about it is how easy it was to apply. I would definitely recommend this even for those who feel they’re struggling to draw the perfect wing. It is just a very steady liner that let’s you create straight lines without ‘spilling’ product everywhere.

For lips, I’m still totally in love with the liquid matte trend. So far I’ve been through both the Kylie lip kits and the NYX’s liquid suedes and I therefore thought it was time to try Too Faced’s take on a liquid matte lip. I must say, I love it. It might even be my favorite so far. Mine is in the shade ‘Child Star’, which is a very light nude. It comes on really soft and stays on the entire evening without feeling dry. Any interest in me doing a post where I compare all my liquid matte lipsticks(Kylie, NYX, Too Faced etc.)? I might do one anyways, haha.

Phew, have I been rambling far too much about makeup now? I just thought I’d show you the very last few products in my haul as well.

I branched out a little bit and bought myself a beautyblender, as I’m just really curious to the quality compared to the H&M sponges that I currently use. I also bought this really cute Avocado Sheet Mask, which I can’t wait to try. These other masks are masks that I got as testers in my Sephora bag, including a charcoal mask, which I am very intrigued about.

I thought I’d do a separate post on skincare and face masks once I’ve tried them all!

In conclusion, I am beyond happy about all my new products. It’s not often that one is almost 100% happy with such a huge makeup purchase, but I must say, except from the Too Faced mascara, that all the products lived up to my expectations. And no, I’m not sponsored by Too Faced( hmu though ), I just really and honestly love their products and I’m so gutted that I can’t get them here in Norway.

I hope you enjoyed this post, and even though I hate close ups of my face, here are some of those as well. What don’t I do for quality content? Keep your eyes peeled for more Stockholm posts, as they will be up very soon!

Sunset Walks

Allthough my outfits tend to be very monochrome, I find contrasts so beautiful. A white snowy road meets the red sky. White shirt and black jeans. The cold weather meets the warmth of the sun. Lately we’ve been blessed with more sun, it’s getting lighter outside and I can feel myself getting lighter inside as well. We are slowly saying goodbye to the cold and dark winter and welcoming spring(well, not yet though, this is Norway after all).

In this post I thought I would show you an outfit that I feel reflect very well on my personal style. If I could I would probably have worn this every day, but let’s pretend I didn’t say that. Wouldn’t want anyone to think I’m boring.

This outfit is put together by both old and new items. A white shirt that I’ve had since forever, a black belt that I found hidden in the back of my closet and cannot even remember how I got, some fairly new black jeans and my all time favorite and beloved grey woollen coat.

Outfit Details: Sunglasses – H&M | Coat – URBAN | Shirt – Cubus | Jeans – Carlings | Boots – Pavement

I’m also wearing some really cool socks from Monki, with a dog riding a bicycle on them. Just thought you should know.

These photos made me realize I want to shoot more in the early sunsets. The lighting is so magical. A big thank you to my little sister who gets dragged out in whatever weather and forced on these walks with me to take photos, you da best.

Hope you are all doing amazing. I have had my winter holidays this week and I must say, I could really get used to not having to go to school everyday. The week has so far consisted of 80% watching Bates Motel on Netflix and 20% homework. Do not follow my example, kids. Now that I’ve watched all the seasons that are out on Netflix so far I might be able to be a bit productive before the weekend comes. Wish me luck.

How has your week been so far?

My Getaway Weekend

Sometimes we just need to hit the pause button on life and enjoy ourselves a little getaway from reality. This weekend I visited one of my best friends who lives and studies in beautiful Trondheim, the city of the wooden houses.

You’ll find Trondheim located almost in the middle of Norway, around 500 km north of the capital, Oslo, where I live. Being one of the most popular student cities in Norway, Trondheim is always full of life and adventure. To capture everything we did on this amazing weekend would be nearly impossible, but I would like to take you along on the walk we had on Saturday, in beautiful and sunny, though very windy weather.

Walking along Nidelva, which runs through Trondheim, you’ll see small and big wooden houses in various colors all along the riverside.

Nidarosdomen(The Nidaros Cathedral), place of the burial of St. Olav, and a unique Middle Age building. The cathedral is so massive you can’t even capture the entire building in one shot.

On the last two photos, Solsiden(the sunny side), best known for its long strip of restaurants and bars, filled with lights and life during Trondheims nightlife.

Such a wonderful and amazing city that I cannot recommend enough. Already looking forward to my next visit!

The 20 Questions Tag

Some months ago I saw this tag over on Sophie Maie’s blog and instantly thought that it would be a fun tag to do. And then I saw on the bottom of her post that she had actually tagged me, so what better reason for me to actually do it? So here’s me answering 20 random questions for you.

1. Things you cannot live without?

Books, my phone and a cosy blanket.

2. Favorite makeup brand?

Ok, I can’t just say one, so: Too Faced, Urban Decay and NYX.

3. Favorite flowers?

We call them “hvitveis” in Norway. The Latin word is Anemone nemorosa.

4. Favorite clothing stores?

BikBok, Urban Outfitters and Monki.

5. Favorite perfume?

I don’t really wear perfume. I don’t mind it on others, but I can’t wear it myself as the strong scents normally just trigger a headache. I think I smell good without though, fingers crossed, haha.

6. Heels or flats?

HEELS. Even though I rarely wear them as I never do anything that requires heels in my boring life.

7. Do you get good grades?

Yup, haha. Or at least I did in high school. Time will show how I do at university.

8. Favorite colors?

Blue and silver.

9. Do you drink energy drinks?

No, I’ve never really liked the taste, or the “energy kick”.

10. Do you drink juice?

Yassss. I love juice, especially orange juice. I also have a favorite that is “strawberry and orange juice”, so good.

11. Do you like swimming?

Haha, hmm, I don’t know. I think it can be fun, but I definitely prefer a pool as I am a bit scared of the “big, dark ocean”.

12. Do you eat chips with a fork?

Chips as in fries, right? If I am in a restaurant, I guess. And sometimes at home, actually.

13. What’s your favorite moisturiser?

Hands down, the Body Shop Vitamin C Daily Moisturiser!! This works wonders if you have dry skin!

14. Do you want to get married later in life?

Yes, do! But I am not in a rush.

15. Do you get mad easily?

I get easily annoyed maybe, as I am a bit unpatient, but I almost never get angry. I like to think that I am quite calm.

16. Are you into ghost hunting?

NOPE. I am soooo scared by the thought of anything supernatural.

17. Any phobias?

Ghosts? Haha. No, not really though. Even though I am fairly afraid of spiders.

18. Do you bite your nails?

It’s not really a habit of mine, but if I get very nervous I tend to do it, unfortunately.

19. Have you ever had a near death experience?

No, luckily I haven’t! (*knock on wood*)

20. Do you drink coffee?

No, I don’t. Please tell me I’m not the only 22 year old who doesn’t like coffee? I feel so immature when I go to cafees with people and they order coffee and I’m sat there with my hot chocolate. I just don’t like the taste of coffee and I have no plans on teaching myself to like it.

Hope you liked my take at this little tag. Do we have anything in common? Thank you so much, Sophie, for tagging me. I just think it’s fun to do stuff like this from time to time too. Hope your week is lovely so far.

Handbag Essentials

Being a student, or just a busy person in general, you’ll know that keeping the right equipment in your handbag can be lifesaving. I am the kind of person that keeps everything I own in my handbag/backpack. It’s what I live in when I go to school and tends to get quite heavy.  I recently purchased a new handbag, which is huge, in order to fit everything in it, and I thought I would give you a little “handbag tour”.

img_3766Introducing: My new handbag. I got this simple, black bag off of Lindex and paid around £38 for it. What I really like about it is how much you can fit in it as well as the simple style of it. For me, a designer handbag isn’t an option yet, as I’m not in the place where I want to or can spend that much money on a bag, but in my opinion the brand of your bag doesn’t matter. What matters is that you like it and that it fits your use.

Firstly, when you live up north and the weather never decides wether to be rainy and foggy or freeze you to death, always bring an emergency hat + mittens. I am now sitting here with a major cold, looking back and regretting some of the days when I skipped this point.

Next up: FOOD. This is such an important point whenever you are out and about either for school or work. Your lunch will keep you going. I didn’t bring that much on this particular day as I only had one class, but make sure to always bring more than you think you’ll need. You will thank yourself later. And most importantly: WATER. Lately I’ve been realizing the importancy of drinking enough water, and after I’ve started to bring my water botttle around everywhere I have so much more energy to get through the days! The easiest pro-tip right there.

Now on to the boring school stuff. As you see, my bag can fit a lot of that too. Right now I’m taking a class in physics, meaning my calculator is my best friend and has to come with me every day. Next up, my “20 brilliant colours“, haha. I am obsessed with using these pens in my notes, and I sure can’t be the only one? I think it’s such a good study tip really – keeps your notes colorfull, fun and organized. What I do is I usually re-write my notes when I get home to get more out of the lesson and to have everything in one place. This works really well for me.

Then we have my calendar, wallet, phone, headphones and lipstick. The main essentials, haha. The lipstick I am currently obsessing over is this gorgeous nude from the NYX liquid suede line called “Soft-spoken”.

I am also a sucker for calendars and this one got me with it’s simple design. I love the cute little “hello’s” for every week. I am trying to be really good and write down everything I need to do and make lists to keep myself organized. Week 3 looks a little bit empty though, woops.

What are your handbag essentials? And do we have any of the same? Let me know. Also, I’m sorry for the lack of blog posts, I’ve been so ill that I’ve literally been glued to my bed the past days. Feeling a lot better now though, and spending my last day as 21 the best way possible: watching Netflix and eating pizza. Yes, tomorrow is my BIRTHDAY, and I’m so ready to be blasting a certain T-Swift song the entire day. I love birthdays and have so much exciting stuff planned for the week that is coming, so keep posted and I’ll see you very soon!

Time for a Haul

Happy New Year, everyone! Hope you’ve all come off to a good start of 2017! As the title implies: New Year, New Me, New Clothes. Well, not really. I’m actually quite happy with where I am as a person now and for the new year I will try to embrace that and develop even more as a person. Clothingwise I haven’t really found much of any interest in the sales this season, but there are a few pieces that I just couldn’t resist(some of them weren’t even on sale, I just had to have them)!

BikBok Billy Pullover in Pastel Pink.

I feel like this is the type of sweather that you don’t even need to touch to know that it’s soft, you can just see it. And it’s so soft. I’m also loving this pastel pink color as it really brightens up any outfit for winter.

BikBok Will t-shirt with Roses.

I just thought this t-shirt was so cool and unique, and at the same time very simple. Perfect to spice up an all black outfit. I later found out that there’s another version of this t-shirt with little birds on it and it’s so pretty. Perfect to combine with light denim in the summer. I will go back to get it. (Find it here).

BikBok Mia Sweater, Furry Black.

I used to own a sweater like this and I loved it so much, but somehow it just disappeared and I’ve never found it again. So when I found this (almost) replica of it I got really happy. It’s super fluffy and cosy and also really warm.

The next one isn’t clothing, but this beautiful notebook. If you didn’t know I am a great Harry Potter fan and this classic black book caught my eye instantly. Not to mention, I have an obsession for pretty stationairy. The only problem is that it’s so pretty that I don’t want to waste the use of it. I want to use it for something really nice. Any ideas?

Lastly I bought this white lace bralette from Lindex tha I just found so delicate and pretty. It made me think that I need to find a way to combine lace more in my outfits, it can be so beautiful if worn the right way.

Thank you so much for reading. As you may see, I’ve done some small changes to my design. I’m really working on keeping my blog top quality and well written for the new year so that I can be proud of everything I post. I’m thinking about doing a Q&A post some time in the near future as well, so if you have any questions you’re dying to get answered, please include them in your comment, that would mean a lot! Hope you’re all having a great day. You’re all amazing.

Christmas Recap

Hello everyone! How has your Holidays been? My four days off of work were definitely very relaxing and I managed to re-gain a lot of lost energy. Since I’ve been a bit MIA during the Christmas times, due to work and being with family and friends, I thought I’d bring you a little Christmas recap to let you guys tag along to what I’ve been up to the days up to and after Christmas, so let’s go! PS: There’s going to be a lot of iPhone photos, so bare with me on the quality this time!

December 20th

Remember I talked about the Christmas market? I finally got to visit it together with my friend, Ida. We decided to have a full on wintery and Christmassy day and started it all off with some fun at the skating rink.

Up next, lots of Christmas goodies. I went for churros with cinnamon and sugar and Ida went for a Belgian waffle with chocolate. For drinks I got a cup of hot Chocolate(with cream!!) and Ida had Gløgg(Norwegian version of Mulled Wine).

Then of course, even though we’re both super scared of heights, we had to go on the Ferris wheel. Worst and best decision of the day. It was all idyllic and fun until we reached the top and the wheel stopped cause they were letting mote people on. We seriously froze in fear, it was so high up!!! The view was so and so as it was a very foggy day, but we could indeed see how high up we were!

The view from the Ferris wheel with the skating rink underneath us and the market and shopping street to the left! The fancy building straight ahead is the Parliament!

December 23rd

Spent the morning decorating the tree and the entire house for Christmas, as is the Christmas tradition in most Norwegian homes. I enjoyed this s much, really brings me back to being a kid and being all excited for Christmas. I actually think I enjoy it even more now really, haha!

This is my self-made Christmas sweater, I’m cool like that.

December 24th

The big day. In Norway we celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve, meaning presents, food and dressing up all on this special evening.

My gorgeous glittery dress that I wore. Love the open back!

The evening was amazing and I just want to relive it over and over again. I didn’t take any photos of the meal that day, but I’ll show you a reconstruction(as I of course had leftovers the next day), to let you in on what we eat on Christmas Eve in Norway!

Dinner is either pork, lamb or fish mostly, depending on where in the country you’re from. In my family we eat pork. The main dish being ribs and then next to it, sausages and meatballs(they’re not really meatballs, just couldn’t find a better English word), potatoes, of course, and then two types of sauerkraut and mustard.

For dessert: rice cream/risalamande/riskrem with raspberry sauce! This is literally the best thing in the world. Get at it if you ever have the chance.

December 25th

The next day was spent in my PJ’s and slippers digging into all the leftovers and wathcing Vampire Diaries. It was not a productive day AT ALL. Exactly how Christmas Day is supposed to be!

The last days have been more back to normal. And back to work, ugh. Been really spoilt with my dad making us so many amazing dishes for dinner, including his soon to be world famous pizza. Just look at this piece of art:

One word: HEAVEN.

Hope you enjoyed this little recap. I probably won’t be seing you until next year now, so I hope you all have a very lovely day tomorrow, stay safe and have a HAPPY NEW YEAR!

What I got for Christmas 2016

Hello everyone! Hope you are all still having an amazing Christmas season, I know I am. Christmas Eve has passed and I thought I’d let you in on the gifts that I received this year. Hopefully, you are as nosy as me and find this post interesting, haha.

First of all, like every year, I got spoilt with so many sweets. The banana candy to the right is sooo good(and extremely sweet, haha) and then of course a marzipan pig and some tiny chocolate covered marzipan pigs. Marzipan is a very popular Christmas treat in Norway.

Then, my sister got me this beautiful phone case from ‘Richmond&Finch’. It’s so posh, but I just love itttt. I haven’t had a case on my phone since I got it because I’m so picky and think the phone looks prettier without, but it’s time to face the fact that it wont last long without a solid case.

My sister also got me loads of these weird hairbands/scrunchies that I think are supposed to be better for yout hair than normail hairbands. They are really comfortable to keep your hair up with and doesn’t feel like they damage it or rip a lot of hairs out. The mittens are from my parents and are Norwegian Selbu mittens with the special Selburose knit pattern. Lovelovelove them and the Christmassy color. Will definitely be wearing these a lot, so please let us have some snow soon!

From my uncle I got this book, which I actually hadn’t heard about, but I think it’s a classic and I am excited to read it! Have any of you guys read it?

From my aunt ant my other uncle and their kids I got these super fluffy baby blue slippers! My sister got the same ones in white and when she opened her present I was like “aww, I want some too” and then I opened mine and they had gotten some for me as well! I have been wearing these all day today, they are so comfy and insanely warm. Definitely the perfect winter gift!

I also got some money for Christmas this year as I, as you may know, am saving up for a bunad. So now I’m a little closer to that goal too! I am so thankful for all my presents, and also so thankful for last night spend with my closest family. It was the perfect Christmas Eve.

Hope everyone who’s celebrated today on Christmas Day have had as lovely a celebration as I had yesterday. My day has been spend in the attire seen above: Penguin PJ’s and fluffy slippers while watching ‘Vampire Diaries’ and digging into a bunch of Christmas leftovers!

Also, today I woke up to 300 followers on my blog! That’s insane and such an amazing Christmas Day Surprise! Thank you all so much for the support and lovely comments both here and on my other social media, you make my day! ♥

Christmas Hugs,
