Meet My Furry Friend

I was tagged by the lovely Mercy to to this tag and I got so thrilled(you should totally go over to her blog after and read about her cute furry friend, Molly!) I’ve been wanting to do a post about my dog for so long and now I finally have an excuse! Those who know me, know that I am kind of obsessed with my furry friend as I have a tendency to snapchat him more often than my own face, but come on, who doesn’t love a cute dog??

1. What is your pets name?

His name is Frikk. The meaning of the name is “peaceful ruler”. Wouldn’t really say the peaceful part is too accurate.

2. What kind of pet is it and what breed?

He is an English Setter. The Setters are hunting dogs developed to assist hunters in finding and retrieving game, hunting birds. They are very athletic dogs that need a lot of exercise, but once inside the house they are super calm and love to cuddle. Frikk is in the color tricolor, which basically means his coat is covered in black flecks and also tan markings on the face, chest and legs. A colorfull little fella.

3. How long have you had your pet friend?

We’ve had him for about a year and a half now. Seems like he’s been with us forever.

4. How did you get your pet?

Our family has always had dogs, and also always Setters. When our last dog passed we all felt that the house became too empty and we missed the sound of paws ticking in the halls. We bought Frikk from another family so we have not had him since he was a puppy, but almost. He was 8 months when we got him.

5. How old is your pet?

Frikk is 2 years old, which in the dog world means you’re an adult, but that doesn’t really apply to him. He’s still such a puppy.

6. What is your favorite memory with your pet?

Hm, this is a tough one. I truly love every moment I spend with him, but something I will never forget is the first time we met. I didn’t live at home at the moment which meant my family had had him for about a moth before I got to come home and see him(imagine me living 7 hours away from home and just counting the days till I got to see our new dog -suchh a long wait!!). I remember walking down to our house after a long drive home when suddenly this fluffy creature came running towards me filled with absolute joy. It was such a happy moment and I felt like he just approved me from the very first second. (He doesn’t really know how to hate anyone, though).

7. What are some quirky things about your pets personality?

Well, first of all, he’s got a LOT of personality. I think that you can see just from the pictures of him that he is a very alert dog who’s always keen and interested in doing stuff, but at the same time he’s also very caring. Something really fun and cute about his personality is his ‘relationship’ with his pet blanket. He’s just like a little baby, can’t go anywhere without his blanket. And whenever we have visitors he carries it around, proudly making sure that everyone gets to see his blanky. One time we went on vacation with him and we forgot to bring the blanket, you could tell that he was so upset and didn’t know how to even have a proper nap without it.

The blanket in this picture got a little bit tired and full of holes so we discreetly switched it out with a new one, shh, he still doesn’t suspect anything.

This is from his first skiing trip. I don’t really think he got the concept.

8. What does your relationship with your pet mean to you?

Everything, really. It may sound cliche, but there’s no bad day that this little one can’t brighten at least a little bit. He has helped me through so many sad moments and also been with me through so many happy moments. He also brings together the entire family and gives us the daily laugh by being his silly self.

9. What are some of your favorite past times with your friend?

Something that we’ve always done is whenever I come home from school and decide to have a little nap on the couch he eagerly jumps up to sleep on my belly. And allthough it is a bit heavy having 25 kgs sleeping on you, it’s also one of the best parts of the day, napping together.

10. What nicknames do you call your pet?

Oh, I have so many. I’m the kind of person that just uses whatever cute nickname that comes into mind, but some classics are: Frikkulf, godgutten(eng: best boy), Frikksen, Frikkegutten and lots of other cheesy names.

One of my very best friends, he is.

Hope you enjoyed this tag! Do you have a pet? Let me know a little bit about he or she! I love animals so much, I can’t even.

  1. I love this! Frikk is so adorable, I love his colouring and he just seems so loving and playful! I have 2 dogs – my dog which is my parent’s and lives with us, and my boyfriend’s mum’s dog who I like to think is just as much mine as theirs since I’ve known him from just a pup! But your dog is toooooo cute, I wanna nap with him 😦 Haha xx

  2. Aw, thank you! I didn’t know you had two dogs – I would’ve tagged you! Anyways you’re very free to do a post about them, they sound lovely! And I bet Frikk would love to nap with you, he’s such a social being, haha! Whenever you should find yourself in Norway, feel free to come and have a cuddle with him! xx

  3. Aww what a cute little boy! He looks like he’s a giant bundle of fun! So great I get to know more about Frikk and thanks for doing the tag in response to mine. I do feel what you feel, that a house without a dog feels too empty and doesn’t feel like home. They just brighten up our lives and keeps the family together, don’t they? Such angels! Love the post, Ingrid Xx
